Employee Memo from Scott Campbell, CEO - December 5, 2018 - UPDATED
On Tuesday, December 4, we texted a link to our secure employee website to view information regarding your position. You can confirm your status by visiting www.baymedical.org/employee/important-info and providing your personal information.
This is a sad time for our hospital and I deeply regret the impact this news will have on members of our Bay Medical family. We are committed to doing everything possible to support employees during this transition. All laid-off employees will continue to be paid through February 4, 2019 and benefits will continue through February 28, 2019.
Why We Used Texting
While it is never our preference to share important news via text, please understand that with only a small number of employees scheduled for work at the hospital, and a large number of employees living outside our area, this allowed us to reach as many people as possible without requiring individuals to drive to the hospital – some from out of state. Our goal was to disseminate information in a fair and timely manner and this has been the primary way in which employees have been notified of announcements since the hurricane.
Following the notification, we held a series of conference calls on Tuesday afternoon so that employees, no matter where they live, could hear important information directly from me, Ardent COO Paul Kappelman, and Ascension Sacred Heart Ministry President Tom Van Osdol. The same information was shared on each call. This morning, we sent a text providing a dial-in number and code that will connect you to a replay of the first call. If you did not receive the text, please call the hotline noted below.
Job Fairs and Opportunities
Ardent and our joint venture partner, Ascension Sacred Heart, have committed to hiring as many affected employees as possible for openings throughout their systems, including Ascension’s hospitals in Florida. Both systems will honor employee years of service. A hiring event for these openings will be held on December 10 -11 at a time and place to be communicated soon. Open positions are being posted on the Bay Medical employee website, www.baymedical.org/employee.
How to Get Information
We will continue to share information via text alert and the employee website so please monitor those channels for updates. You may also contact the Employee Hotline at 1-888-727-4785 or email email@example.com with questions.
Thank you – from the bottom of my heart – for your continued dedication during this difficult time.
C. Scott Campbell
