The Bay Medical Sleep Disorders Laboratory works in conjunction with your physician in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders primarily through the use of polysomnography, or sleep study. The lab is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and our technologists are licensed by the State of Florida.
What is a Sleep Study?
A sleep study is a painless recording made while you spend a night in one of our private rooms. State-of-the-art digital equipment records your sleep patterns, breathing, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and body movements while a professional technologist monitors your study in an adjacent room. The study is scored and prepared by a registered polysomnographer and interpreted by a physician.
Getting a Sleep Study
Your physician will refer you to our sleep lab or schedule a study on your behalf. To aid in the diagnostic process, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire on your sleep history. For your convenience, you will be pre-registered, which allows you to come directly to the lab on the evening of your test. The test will run through the night until early the next day. When completed, the results of your study will be reported to your physician who will discuss them with you.
Comfort in a Home-Like Setting
The Bay Medical Sleep Disorders Laboratory is designed to feel as much like home as possible, decorated in a comfortable setting so that you can relax and sleep. Your bed is equipped with a Tempur-Pedic mattress for maximum comfort.
A sleep disorders study is an accepted medical procedure covered by Medicare and most insurance companies. Bay Medical will assist you in pre-certification of your insurance. Financial arrangements may be made in lieu of insurance coverage.
